Celtics slip by Raptors for 5th straight win

Derrick White hit a 3-pointer with 26.8 seconds to play and the visiting Boston Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors 108-105 on Friday night.

White finished with 13 points and Jaylen Brown had 23 for the Celtics, who have won five straight.

The Celtics have won both of their NBA in-season tournament games. The Raptors were playing their first tournament game.

Jayson Tatum added 17 points for Boston. Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis each had 14 points and Sam Hauser and Al Horford had 11 points each.

Pascal Siakam and Dennis Schroder each scored 23 points for the Raptors, who are 1-2 on their four-game homestand. Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent Jr. each added 14 points.

Boston led by 16 at halftime and took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter.

Toronto took a two-point lead on a 3-pointer by Barnes with 9:06 to play. Boston answered with six straight points. Precious Achiuwa made one of two free throws to tie the game with 4:18 remaining. Siakam's jumper gave Toronto a two-point lead with 3:01 left.

With the game tied at 103, White gave Boston the lead with a 3-pointer. Holiday made two free throws with eight seconds left. Barnes ended the game with two free throws.

Toronto led 32-26 after one quarter. Siakam picked up three fouls in the quarter.

Boston started the second quarter on a 12-2 run. Boston led by five on a 16-footer by Porzingis with 6:35 remaining in the quarter. Toronto responded with four points.

Boston opened a 12-point margin on Tatum's dunk with 1:53 to play. Tatum made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to complete the first-half scoring and give Boston a 65-49 lead.

With Siakam back on the floor, Toronto scored the first nine points of the third quarter. The Raptors cut the deficit to six on Trent's 3-pointer.

Boston drew ahead by 10 on Tatum's jumper. Schroder's jumper tied the game at 73 with 4:23 left in the quarter.

Toronto took a one-point lead on Jakob Poeltl's layup with 2:58 left. Boston came back to lead 84-81 after three quarters.
