Padres deal veteran reliever Scott Barlow to Guardians

The San Diego Padres traded reliever Scott Barlow to the Cleveland Guardians for fellow right-hander Enyel De Los Santos on Friday.

Barlow, 30, went 2-6 with a 4.37 ERA and 13 saves in 63 appearances last season, split between the Kansas City Royals and Padres. With San Diego, he was 0-2 with a 3.07 ERA in 25 appearances. All of his saves came with the Royals.

Overall, Barlow is 20-18 with a 3.36 ERA and 56 saves in 302 career relief appearances since reached the majors in 2018. He spent his entire big league career with Kansas City until last July's trade to the Padres for two minor leaguers.

De Los Santos, 27, went 5-2 with a 3.29 ERA in 70 appearances for Cleveland last season. He was 10-2 with a 3.18 ERA in two seasons with the Guardians.

Overall, De Los Santos is 13-4 with a 4.20 ERA in 165 appearances (three starts) with the Philadelphia Phillies (2018-19, 2021), Pittsburgh Pirates (2021) and Guardians.

Cleveland also agreed to a one-year deal with outfielder Ramon Laureano to avoid arbitration. He batted .243 with three homers and 14 RBIs in 41 games after being claimed off waivers from the Oakland Athletics in early August.

Overall, Laureano batted .224 with nine homers and 35 RBIs in 105 games last season. In six major league seasons, he has a .245 average with 71 homers and 219 RBIs in 512 games with Oakland and Cleveland.

Earlier Friday, the Guardians traded right-hander Cal Quantrill to the Colorado Rockies for minor league catcher Kody Huff.
